In this introduction to 1 Peter, we see that Peter is writing a letter to the church in northern Asia-Minor that is suffering as they are marginalized in society and discriminated against. Peter wants to urge the Christ-followers to endure with joy. The assurance of our present hope that sustains our joy in any circumstance is found in the eternal work and promise of Jesus.
