“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you… because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
Philippians 1:3,5
part·ner·ship- formal participation in the life and ministry of The Bridge Montrose, sharing in the common vision and shared responsibility for the work of ministry.
What is partnership? -
What is commonly called “membership” in many churches, we call "partnership.” We love the word membership (Romans 12:4-5) because we are made members by the work of Jesus in that in Him, we are made a part of His Body, the Church. We derive our definition of Partnership from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians. In chapter 1, Paul says, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you… because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Here, Paul is thankful because fellow Christians have willfully and purposefully partnered with him in the work of ministry. Our staff and elders have equipping roles – we are charged with equipping the people of The Bridge Montrose to do ministry. Then, working alongside one another, we believe that the Lord uses each Christian to advance His Kingdom reign in the world. Partnership communicates each of our willfull commitments to this common vision and mission.
Who can be a partner? -
Christ Followers who commit ourselves to the truth of the Gospel and to the spiritual vitality and mission of this local church. Partners are those who share purpose and responsibilty in the care, accountability, and discipline of one another. This is done while submitting to those given by God to be shepherds/elders and leaders (Eph 4:11-12) who will give account to Jesus for their work.
Why should I become a partner? -
Partnership gives a tangible picture of who is “in” as we strive to come together for God’s glory as we care for one another and live on mission to make disciples throughout all of the world. Practically speaking, Partnership is a direct affront to our tendency to seek comfort and our propensity for consumerism. Partnership also helps the elders of The Bridge Montrose and other pastoral leadership know who those are that they will be held accountable for caring for. In partnership, we are committing to come together and live for the glory of God and the good of each other.
